Attachment Styles

Has anyone here read up on romantic attachment styles? I wonder if there any correlation to codependency/alcoholism. Just wondering if anyone has noticed any patterns?

hmmm.... I have not seen any studies on links between those, but it does sound interesting. Do you have any links you could share?

Mike :)

I am interested as well! Fingers crossed there is some literature out there somewhere.

I'm sure there was a thread a couple of months ago on attachment styles in the F&F forum, can't find it now though.

This is pretty good:

I'm up in the wee hrs (not quite 4am US EST!) and this thread piqued my interest! I am going to look into this- I feel like I have indeed studied this connection in the past but I forget the details! Look forward to hearing what others' find too. Thanks!

In psychology....attachment theory is usually discussed in relation to the studies of Bolby and Ainsworth.....as a part of developmental psychology....
Not much work has been done in relation to adults...
In the field, there is some controversy surrounding the theory....

The following link may be of some interest....

I need to do some more research as well! I’ve been reading “Attached” by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller (amazing book btw) and I can definitely identify my XABF as an avoidant type. The more reflection I did, I can also identify other Avoidants I’ve dated and almost all of them were heavy drinkers, while the Secures I’ve dated were not ...
