Alcoholic using hospitalized friend for empathy and blame
 

Alcoholic family member now using a hospitalized friend for empathy and blame. They like how the hospitalized friend's family have come to visit and support the patient. Ironically over the sametime they keep digging up their old history of self inflicted financial trouble and that no family or friend came to bail them out. They also seem frustrated that many are not inquiring about a person they never met.

Scary sidenote. They admitted bringing alcohol 'because someone else did' to the hospital thus enabling or perhaps even starting emotionally compromised friends & family on the road to alcoholism. I expressed concern at alcohol in the hospital to no avail.

I would tell the hospital authorities, this is unacceptable and let the family member suffer the consequences.

If the person you talked to at the hospital refused to take action, I would definitely go above their head to the next in line. That's crazy.
