Thank you for posting this, I believe I have had PTSD from the way my heart used to race when I heard him come in the door at all hours in the morning, not knowing if he would wake me up and start a row or go to sleep. It is no place to be, that was in the past but I still get triggered if he is late home due to a delayed flight for example. I hate it.

My AXBF used to rage and wake me up at all hours with accusations too. He’s been gone from my home for almost a year but I still have the occasional nightmare of him barging into the bedroom. I know I have PTSD. I’m an RA and co-dependent. I’m in counseling. It helps. As does time.

When I visited my first counselor, I told her about my childhood with an alcoholic mother (loving, but alcoholic) and then my first marriage with my ex husband (ex military - controlling, verbally abusive and was getting into the physical stuff when he couldn't break me mentally) - - diagnosis? PTSD

Now, what I do with that info is beyond me.
