A. I don't get sick and ill.
Me. What never?
A. Nope, it's because I drink alcohol and that kills off all the germs in my system so I can't catch anything.
He forgets that his gums bleed and he goes slightly yellow and bloated when on a binge.

H: DS12 says that DD10 broke her brand new glasses.
Me: This is the first I'm hearing about this.
H: Don't you think the teacher should notify us of this.
Me: Maybe. I'll check her purse when I'm done packing lunches.
H: Don't you think you should ask her?
Me: At 630am I should wake her up to ask her, No.
Glasses are perfectly fine, in case, in purse..

Here is a good one, if it wasn't so scary. Don't worry everyone is physically fine.
My XAH was showing my DS, 10 years old, a new shot gun in his living room while drinking. While holding it, he pulled the trigger and blew a hole in the livingroom fireplace. He is a retire police officer.
He told my son, "It is totally normal to do that. My Sargent and I used to shoot guns in the house all the time to get used to hearing guns be shot in doors in firefights."
Really, this is common police practice. O-kay.

Probably me as I seem to be that STD that keeps on giving despite your best attempts at curing it. Wow, a pretty brutal analogy, but based off of my history with some of you, I'm sure you are nodding your heads in agreements. And that makes me sad. I challenge(d) you because I wanted to fight for my family. I've given that up now. I AM fighting for myself and my child, but my family is broken. Take care guys and sorry for hijacking.

as a former drinker & ACOA, I see the humor, wisdom and life-lessons in these stories.
In a way, reading these has been a kind of litmus test of recovery for me.
BC, I do wish you healing but right now, in early recovery, this may not be helping you
and from perspective of friends and family it is quite hurtful to come on threads like this and
try to impose your own narrative on their truths.

XAGF after yet another arrival home blackout drunk: ''I only got that drunk because I worked a 14 hour shift and hadn't eaten all day!"
"I just don't know why I like shots so much!"
"I have to do shots, beer makes me too bloated."

Before I knew not to argue with a drunk.....
Me- you're an alcoholic, you're destroying our marriage with your drinking.
AH-You're the one with the problem. Your problem is with your mom being an alcoholic. It's not that bad, you're projecting this on me when its her you have the problem with.
*Still shaking my head on his reasoning.

Sober counts, because they aren't ever totally sober as Alcoholics. And yes, I agree, how do these thoughts even formulate in their minds? They are so off the wall, complete nonsense! Its like living with the Cheshire cat from Alice In Wonderland!
AW poured herself a 16-ounce glass of wine last night using a water tumbler. I said, "That's a big glass of wine!" She said, "Well, I did some some cleaning and cooking today, so I"m entitled!!". 'Some cooking and cleaning' I guess is a free ticket to drunkenness!! Who woulda known?!?!?!?
So, if you ever cook, or clean - get plastered!!! SMH....
