Heart Broken

I just found out that a former neighbor/friend of mine from high school - which was a long time ago - is being buried today.

A former neighbor notified me. She died from alcoholism.

What a shame!!! Her poor family are in such great pain.

She was beautiful, H S homecoming princess, student council, smart, funny, caring and came from a loving, well educated and well-to-do family. Always smiling, life of the party. We had so much fun in HS and then after graduation went our separate ways. I moved away, she stayed local.

She graduated from college, had a wonderful health services career, three children, and had a couple of marriages/divorces.

We kept in touch for many years and then drifted apart. I had moved away, had my own life and family, with its ups and downs. The last time we spoke, she said all was well in her life and with her family.

Somehow, the blankety-blank disease of alcoholism and possibly drug addiction grabbed her. (I knew she liked her wine.....but - when? I wonder, when did she cross over the line to alcoholism????

I was told the months prior and up to the day of her death were tortuous. :-(

I am so sad and angry at this horrible disease called alcoholism.

I can't attend her funeral, and I will share her loss at my Alanon meeting, but just needed to get my sorrow out this morning.

Her funeral is starting in about 15 minutes. I am with you, my friend, with my heart and soul.

RIP my sweet friend. :Flower111

Sorry for your loss.

I also lost a high school friend last weekend. He drank himself to death. It's a sad waste, but I hope he finally has the peace that he never had

Sorry Clover for your loss. It is truly a sad waste.
(Hugs)

Thanx Honeypig for the candles.

I have lost many family members and a couple of acquaintances (deaths directly related to alcoholism).

For some really this death really has hit me deeply.

Time to do a little revisit to my 4th step inventory, it seems.

Prayers and hugs to all - in recovery and otherwise.
