People who are dealing with potential violence in a relationship need advice from health care professionals. The approach is completely different.

When my exah showed no sign of stopping after I'd used options 1 thru 4 I gave myself a 5th...what did I want to do for myself to make my life better in view of the fact he was happy being drunk and abusive? It took me a very long time but ultimately we split up. I have never regretted it ..just how long it took.
Well, BPGF, you have gotten a lot of opinions with regard to your SO’s broaching the idea of drinking on his birthday.
What are your thoughts today?
Agree with many others that it sound like he wants to drink, will drink if he wants to, and that is beyond your control..
Whatever you decide, andI’m not saying you need to share your birthday night plan with him, as it is entirely up to you, I would make my feelings clear about the drinking.
Which you probably have done already, so done and dusted.
I say this because then he can’t claim to be blindsided by you if the event plays out as you suspect it will.
Good luck.
