Happy Sanity Bday to me
Happy Sanity Bday to me
09-03-03 I attended my first al-anon meeting - I was scared, angry & full of resentment.
The first or second meeting I attended talked about Step 2 - being restored to sanity; for me I wanted to be introduced to Sanity. At 39 years old, I don't recall every having any sanity in my life.
This program gave me the tools to learn to live Happy, Joyous & Free regardless of the chaos around me caused by people, places, or things and my own mind. I now have HOPE that no matter what life may throw my way, This too shall pass. And me & my God will be ok, even better than ok.
I know that it is difficult when you first start recovery - kinda like pulling that bandaid off - even tho it hurts, you know it's healthy thing to do.
So here is a word of encouragement for those new in recovery, don't give up before the miracles happen in you - you deserve them.
So happy 14th recovery/sanity bday to me - I pray each of you enjoy the same freedom I get to have everyday.
PINK HUGS (hope, unity, gratitude & serenity)

This is something I saved in my "Wisdom of SR" folder, from another member: Recovery is being asked to give up everything you know to get something better that you don't understand yet.
And I think it goes along with this, from Albert Einstein: Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.
It doesn't make sense, really--you have to make the leap of faith before you have anything to believe in! But again, another quote I've seen here at SR: She took the leap and grew her wings on the way down.
Happy Sanity Birthday, Ms. P!
