The old and the bittersweet
The old and the bittersweet
I'm both, as of today.
Today I went and finished up my taxes with the tax guy. Yes, a month late. Go ahead and judge, I was lazy getting things to him.
So Tax Guy says to me, "You are required, this year, to take distributions from the retirement account your late husband set up." I guess that is because this year he would have turned 67. It's not a lot of money, but it's enough to make things a tiny bit easier. So, on the way home, I thought about how Late AH had manged to set up this account. I also thought about how he had started withdrawing from it after he lost his last job (incurring some major tax consequences on his part). And then I thought, if he hadn't passed away when he did, he's have spent that all on beer by now.
