My AXH's birthday is Saturday. We've been divorced 6 months. He is currently sober and in an out-patient program. We have a good relationship. We don't talk often.

His birthday is Saturday. Do I send him a birthday card? Any thoughts would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!

my personal feeling is that divorced/formally separated couples no longer buy gifts, send cards or go out of their way to acknowledge special days - unless there are kids involved and you are doing so on THEIR behalf. that's part of X-hood........again, only my opinion tho.....and i'm kind of a hardass, they tell me......

I wouldn't--if things are going along fine, sending a card might be subject to misinterpretation. It would be different if you were like me and my first husband--talk often, visit each other (with his wife). WE send cards. I would never send one to my second husband--we are no longer part of each other's lives.
