Reluctant Newbie

This is my first post but not my first time writing.

loveandmagic's post was the first post I read and it gave me the courage to become a member and participate as it has been a tough and lonely weekend. I wrote a lengthy response, cried as it sank in that I was truly a member. It was a good, well thought out introduction. I hit the submit button and received a pop up indicating that I was not signed in and needed to be signed in to post. I lost all of that work and now I am too exhausted (mostly emotionally) to tell you my story...perhaps another time.

For now, I want to thank you all for being here.

We've been having some tech issues around the forum just now--I hope it will be fixed soon, but in the meantime something you can do is to copy your post to your clipboard as soon as you're done typing it. That way, if it goes "poof," you can log in and still post it.

Welcome, though--glad you're here. Fill us in whenever you feel up to it.

Hi Jumble- I felt that way at my first AA meeting. One of the hardest things to do is admit when we need help - takes a lot of courage and you should be proud of yourself for beginning your journey to sobriety. It's an emotional experience, and the best advice I've gotten is to sit with these feelings and not brush things under the rug I look forward to your next post!

VigilanceNow, as the family member of an alcoholic I never thought of it as my journey to sobriety but, upon further rumination, I guess it does apply to family members as well if the word sobriety is look at as no longer affected by alcohol. I think I will always be affected by alcohol but one thing is for sure - it will be a journey.

Thank you all for your responses.

Welcome. I have found that talking about and writing out my thoughts to others and even myself has helped a lot. Thinking about starting a journal just to free-write my daily thoughts as I go through this difficult process.

Good luck and I hope you stick around and take in the wisdom these wonderful people have to share.
