Dreaming...yes, it Is hard to see your kids being sad. Remember that all llives have some periods of sadness...and, your guiding them through it when they are young lays the foundation for them to be able to do it for themselves when they grow up! this is just life....
They will take their cues from you. If you behave in a positive (and realistic) way....and give them the security of daily structure.....they should be o.k.
that is a lot better than going back to "square one" , yet, another time....
I suggest that you plan some positive fun times with them while he is away.....
And, also....let them talk about their feelings...and, even cry, if they need to....just comfort them and listen to them...

I know it's hard. If it makes it any easier for your Momma's heart, think about how much better your home life will be if he really embraces recovery. If he doesn't, then you have protected them from witnessing that behavior again. I know my kids witness the difference every day and we all agree that we never want to live that way again.
