I don't think I have a toxic family but no 1 & 5 my parents have done but I wonder if it's been more out of love and desperation. They have been guilty of 'we will loan you money, buy you X...if you stop smoking, leave X etc etc and when I was in a previous abusive relationship they threatened to take me out of their will if I stayed with him. My parents have always been so supportive of me and I know I can always turn to them but the language my father understands best is money as he's been in banking all his working life and has gotten where he is today (very very comfortable) by being astute with money.
