I feel better
My parents are home visiting me this week. I don't know if its their presence, or if its the Cymbalta that's kicking in, or if the time has really started to heal, or if its the Al-anon, but I feel much better.
I no longer feel guilty about letting my ex go.
I no longer feel like I am responsible for his actions.
I no longer get this crazy urge to talk to him on a daily basis.
I don't know how long will this last but I am enjoying it for now.
Praying for all my SR supporters here. Big Hugs to you.

Hi Hoping, time does help, and family support. Don't worry if you keep going back and forth with the moods for while. The good times will soon outnumber the bad, and you'll begin to benefit from being separated from the source of your stress.

H,
It's an amazing feeling isnt it. Once we feel we don't have to take care of our addict, as they are completely capable of taking care of themselves.
Enjoy your visit with your parents. I am sure they can see the peace that has come over you. Hugs my friend.

I think it a little bit of all those things that have given you the peace that you have right now I am so happy you are having a good day, week, etc. As long as we continue to reach out, try to better ourselves, and are kind to ourselves then life will get easier, and we will continue to build ourselves up and make our life how we want it.

it's like baking a cake (or so i hear, baking is not in my baliwick!).
you start with a good recipe.
you assemble ingredients.
you assemble the necessary equipment and whatnots.
you make sure you have a good working oven.
then you begin.
and maybe your first attempt doesn't even really qualify as a cake.
and you discover you missed a step.
or you left out an ingredient.
and you try again.
and over time, with practice and consistency, you pull a glorious cake out of the oven.
recovery is like that.
