Documentary on alcoholism
Hi, I just saw a really good documentary on BBC player by Louis Theroux,
called 'Drinking to Oblivion'. It's available on iplayer here in the UK, and possibly available in the USA on Amazon.
Louis Theroux spends time in the A&E (or ER) of an alcohol unit in a hospital, following the stories of people who are literally drinking themselves to death.
Has anyone else seen it?
Also saw another excellent documentary on the BBC called Chasing Dad, about a son tracking down his Heroine addicted father.

Glad you thought so Dee. It made me think of my 50 year old XABF, and how this could easily be him in a few years time. The way that some of the A's featured did not seem to take on board that they would die soon if they didn't quit was all too familiar. The way that they had to drink, no matter what, was so sad to watch.
What came across was they all had underlying psychological issues that mostly weren't being addressed- presumably due to lack of funding in our health system.
My XABF developed COPD, was warned of Bowel cancer, liver cancer, liver failure and stroke. He had permanently clawed small fingers because of the alcohol. Did he stop drinking or moderate in any way? No!
