One of the items in our packet of materials for the screenwriting seminar last week was Robert McKee's Ten Commandments for screenwriters (It was actually 11--there was the late addition of "Thou shalt avoid passive verbs").
Sandwiched in between the aforementioned Commandment XI, and Commandment IX ("Thou shalt take thine story into the depth and breadth of human experience") was Commandment X: "Thou shalt not sleep with anyone who has more problems than you."
Good advice.
