redatlanta----I can remember when fannypacks were all the rage. They were so totally functional, in my opinion. Then....they were gone, for the most part.....
As a person who is closely affiliated with the fashion industry.....
What happened?
Did it have anything to do with making peoples waist and backside looking bigger?

curiously,

I don't really know! I think the last time they were popular was the 80's possibly? They seemed to move to something the elderly would only use and I think that might have been the end of that. I'll be the first to admit they aren't the most fashionable things. Under a winter coat they make everyone look bulky and thick, and pregnant. Someone told me they were making a comeback, I don't think so LOL, I don't see anyone else wearing them.

I started wearing them not because I lost keys and left my bag, but because we were having a crime wave here (well maybe still are), where there were so many reports of women being mugged by "Drive by" runners jerking their handbags out of their hands, or off their shoulders. Not losing keys anymore or misplacing my bag was a bonus.
