I do not think they are capable of feeling pain the way you want him to feel it. That is why alcohol is for, to "numb" the pain, but they sure can have a pity party for themselves, so I am sure your AH does feel some kind of discomfort.
Now, you may feel at the moment that the burden is on you because you are the one who had to move and do everything, but you are the one who actually does MOVE FORWARD. Remember, this too shall pass. Your anger will eventually go away, you will have a new life, a chance to have a better future. And your AH is still stuck living in denial.

My heart goes out to you during this painful period. Your life will get better, the dogs will adjust and one day the pain will be a memory, just hold on and get support from family and friends. Whatever your ex feels or doesn't feel is his problem, I hope you can keep a big distance from him. A hug.
