Your moment of zen for the day

"Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self esteem, first make sure you are not in fact surrounded by assholes". (Or in many of our cases, an abusive alcoholic).
Peace!

And remember, learn from the actions of Dark Helmet: when he realized he was surrounded by Assholes, he didn't get depressed, he told them to keep firing!

As funny as that is (I've laughed about it before), it's also so sadly true.
I had postpartum depression after the birth of my 4th baby almost 17 years ago. It was awful. Meds helped and it passed. But there has always been this underlying sadness ever since. Many times I've considered going back on meds. I think I finally figured out in October that it was actually just the sad, steady hum of being married to an alcoholic. Just that realization, and beginning to utilize Alanon and SR have greatly reduced that sadness. I guess I've realized that I really do have a problem, but it wasn't depression like I thought. It's just unhealthy coping skills.
Anyway, it's still a funny bit. Sorry to get so serious.
