Traumatic Bond.

Hi All,

I'm reading a Lundy Bancroft book "Why does he do that"? and I'm in the part where it talks about the "Traumatic Bond".

Very interesting stuff.......

That book was a huge eye-opener for me. I go back to it periodically, especially when I start having those thoughts about the abuse being something I caused, because he and his wife both said that he NEVER treats her that way, blah, blah, blah.
We also started our relationship in a war zone. Talk about traumatic bonding.

I totally believe this. I've read a little about it and it's just accurate. It's a little like Stockholm syndrome-I exhibited a lot of that during my marriage. Great referral on the book

I am quite familiar with his book and that particular topic. His book was one of those books that opened my eyes to the fact that I wasn't just living with alcoholism, I was living with abuse.

I read that book too, it really helped to understand what I was going through. The thing I´ve noticed is I always have a tendency to feel sorry for people who have been abusive of me. Does anyone experience this as well? It doesn´t make any sense.
