Met with new counsellor
So as many of you know I told the manager of the counselling service it wasn't working with my new counsellor. I was told that I would have to go back onto the waiting list.
I knew I couldn't wait another 6 months for a counsellor to be appointed as I had done the last time so I went searching for another service. So for the last few days I've been emailing counsellors and I met one to night, gotta say she is really nice and I immediately felt comfortable with her, I cried for the whole hour!!
She is a private counsellor, my last counsellors were through a church so the cost was a lot cheaper, the cost is now higher and I can only afford to attend twice a month but I think that's gotta be better than nothing!
Feeling more positive

Good girl!! I'm glad you insisted on what you need for yourself.
All the therapy in the world is no bargain if it isn't helping you. And with a good counselor, twice a month may be plenty! Sounds like you're off to a promising start.

How much do you pay? Just by way of comparison, I pay a top Harley Street counsellor in London £60 and we do two sessions a month now.
I know he offers cheaper deals to people who can't afford it.
The thing is, I very nearly lost all my income over drinking so in a sense the counsellor is an investment. And because it's quite an expensive process which I pay for I tend to take it more seriously.
I balance it with other recovery things but it's been incredibly important.

That other counsellor had her own agenda so I'm happy you've found a new one.
I've had counsellors from time to time, and found it useful for us to set a simple exercise like 'one social event a week' or whatever you're working on, for the time between appointments. That way you still have a goal, even if you only see her every fortnight.
