OT--book recommendation A friend of mine just published her first novel--it's being released September 8, but she sent me an advance copy to read, and it's really awesome. You can google it and read the blurbs--"The Art of Crash Landing," by Melissa DeCarlo. I have a feeling the story would grab a lot of you--it's about a woman who finds herself sort of following in the footsteps of her rather messed-up mother (alcoholic, many bad relationships, now deceased). She goes to mom's home town when her maternal grandmother dies, leaving her a house. She's literally living out of her crappy car, which finally breaks down when she gets there, and she starts poking into her mother's past. It's a very fun read--the characters are very vivid and the writing style extremely witty. Anybody looking for a good fall read, check it out. It's available for pre-order on Amazon, and presumably will be available at the library. And if you like it, spread the word--she needs the exposure, lol. |
Always look for a good read. I let you know what I thought of it of Sept 10th. amy |
I'm always looking for something to read!! Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds interesting! |
Wow -- under $10 at B&N online! Put it in my cart for my next order; thank you! |
The book is already getting rave reviews! I'm very happy for your friend (and a bit envious). I will pre-order and am looking forward to reading it. |
