Wanted to share my beautiful AM doggie walk
So I took Ned, my handsome basset avatar, and Daisy, his little black demon terrier sister, for their AM walk today. This is something I'm really enjoying, since w/my bakery job, I had to leave so early that I couldn't take them out, leaving that job to XAH. It was an exceptionally lovely day today and I wanted to show you guys some of what we saw:
There is a ton of chicory blooming at the roadsides
along with Queen Anne's lace
and red clover (altho the clover is finishing up for the season).
There are also these 2 yellow plants, not sure of the names for either one:

Wow, this is really weird, only part of my post showed, and I actually didn't think ANY of it had come thru...
There was more, but the point was simply that it was a beautiful blue-sky morning w/barn swallows and goldfinches and all sorts of things blooming in a background of intense green. I hope everybody has some part of their day that is equally as lovely!

Yes, chicory, I thought of you b/c your namesake was simply everywhere, and such a beautiful shade of blue!
Like you, I get a lot of comfort and strength from the outdoors, and I'm trying to remember that and make sure I allow myself that time every day, whether it's an early dog walk like today or standing in the yard after dark watching the fireflies.
If all goes well today, I hope to get over to one of the county parks that has swimming in a flooded quarry. I like to swim out to just where the buoy line is, marking the edge of the swimming area, and tread water, watching the dragonflies whiz by and sometimes stop and rest on the floats. I can do this forever(I float pretty good), and then when I have come home and gone to bed for the night, even hours later, I feel as if I'm still in the water, gently bobbing. It's the most pleasant, soothing sensation you can imagine...

Honeypig, You can tell the midwest by its flowers. probably the same for every region, I guess,,, but the queen annes lace and chicory, they are favorites from my childhood-the happiest times spent on my grandma's farm. peaceful times. Its very soothing to me, that blue
My grandparents are the ones who taught me what those plants were also. They had a huge garden, grapevines, apple trees and a pear tree, an asparagus patch--you name it. Things were canned and frozen, jam was made, grape juice w/grapes still in it sat in jars in the basement...

Beautiful. I love those mornings when all of your senses get a treat. Beautiful flowers, lovely scents, the feel of the air, the sound of the insects. I guess the sense of taste is the only one left out. In less, of course, you were eating the flowers. Hopefully you left that to the dogs.
