Back from court: Separation in place

Hi, my wonderful friends and sisters/brothers in arms--just wanted to make a quick post: I filed for divorce back in November, then after a consultation w/a lawyer, decided along w/my A that we'd make it a legal separation instead. This has the advantages of A)still separating me from him financially as well as getting the house (which I brought to the marriage) back in my name and B)I am able to remain on his health insurance as long as he is amenable to this (which is also important, as the "Affordable Health Care" I'd be obligated to buy would cost well over twice as much for the cheapest coverage available).

I have been all over the place emotionally since making the decision in November. I've been unbelievably snowed under at work since we've been shorthanded, working 55-60 hours a week and more on occasion. I'm just damn tired. But now, it seems we have finally hired enough help. I'm looking at working only 3 days this week and 3 days next week, which seems like HEAVEN!

And I worried and fretted so much about the actual filing of the separation. My A and I have no debt and are in agreement about property division, so I checked into a pro se divorce. I found a lawyer who'd do "consult only" to help me make sure I did everything correctly, and with her help, all went smoothly at the courthouse this AM. Fifteen minutes in front of the judge and it's over...just strange.

I'm off for a good hot soak in the tub, then a long session w/my reiki/massage woman, who is an absolute wizard. Tonight, I plan a nice dinner and then perhaps some mandala coloring for relaxation in bed w/my hounds. Just doing every single thing I can to nourish myself right now, as I've been running on empty in so many ways for so long...I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that.

I would never have made it this far w/o SR--my deepest gratitude goes out to all of you for the insight, education, understanding and prayers you've offered over the past 2 years. Thank you.

WTG, honeypig!!!

So glad it's gone smoothly so far, and glad you're getting a chance to rest up. I'm in a crunch at work right now, myself, and I'll be able to breathe for about 10 minutes once this month is over.

Hugs, enjoy your relaxing night!

I'm so glad things went well and even happier to hear how you feel at peace with the outcome!

I wish my state recognized legal separation, I would have gone that route - partly for insurance purposes - too. Good for you planning a nice evening for yourself. You deserve it! (((Hugs)))

How are you today Honeypig?

Everything sunk in yet?

You've been patient and careful, so I'm thinking things are feeling good?
