It's such a black hole isn't it.. I hate that addiction destroyed not only the life of the addicts but those who have once loved them..

Nothing is impossible but knowing about it -- "keeping tabs" -- isn't going to change or improve anything. It's simply another way of hanging on to an alcoholic and feeding codependency. As you said he has a daughter and lots of doctors

I did not give up hope until he was diagnosed with COPD the last two years of his life and I knew he would never quit then. He was 57 when he died. My AH had to die to get well.

Hello Serious Karma,

I think learning to love from afar is something that comes in and out like a tide. Depending on what is going on, sometimes we are good at it and sometimes it is more difficult. Closing in on divorce finalization appears to be a period of reflection.
