Pick a slogan for today!

Pick any single AA/Alanon slogan to apply towards everything I encounter today.
Mine for today is Keep it Simple.

knowthetriggers 03-17-2015 04:53 AM

Let Go and Let God.

Hangnbyathread 03-17-2015 05:57 AM

Do one thing nice for myself today. Repeat this tomorrow.

LeeJane 03-17-2015 06:37 AM

Easy does it.

FireSprite 03-17-2015 06:49 AM

I don't do al-anon, so I don't know their quotes specifically. However, today I am feeling a little:

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow."

Yesterday was not awesome, today WILL be better. :)

Hangnbyathread 03-17-2015 07:05 AM

Oh I didn't pay attention to the instructions. I am also not Al-Anon. So my inputs are not from that.....sorry.

TalenCrowhaven 03-17-2015 07:38 AM

This too shall pass.

We are only as sick as our secrets.

I also do not have al-anon sayings, but I have my grandma's, and for some reason I like it these days: "Snow does not fall to kill the world, but that every beasty shows its tracks." Perhaps you guys know something more idiomatic.

Kboys 03-17-2015 11:09 AM

One day at a time !!

Pain is inevitable, but misery is an option.

(from my dear departed Al-Anon sponsor, Ruth Ann)

DoubleDragons 03-17-2015 01:42 PM

Healthyagain, could you explain your grandmother's slogan? I think I know what it means, but I am curious about your translation.

The slogan that changed my perspective is: Accepting abuse is self abuse.

shil2587 03-17-2015 01:47 PM

Not from alanon, but its become something of a mantra.

"Only I can change how I feel. Only I have that power over me"

bird13 03-17-2015 02:06 PM

wow.. I was going to say, "Let Go and Let God." Then I read all the other posts and I can't decide :D!

Let Go and Let God

When I am worrying, I am having controlling thoughts about the situation and most of the things we worry about doesn't happen anyway.

firebolt 03-17-2015 02:11 PM

Not an Alanon slogan, but used frequently in here.

I used to apply it to ABF, and am finally working on applying it to myself:

It's actions, not words, that matter.

isitme 03-17-2015 02:17 PM

Don't just do something, Sit There.

Basically, what it means is that even when really bad things happen in your life, they have some purpose, and that this is time when people ("beasties") show who they really are.

And I love your slogan. :)

PHIZ007 03-17-2015 02:30 PM

Keep coming back.

And also for me today 'this too will pass'

Take care
