OT - have to put my cat down today
I would like to share this true experience:
Yesterday a fantail flew around my office.
I felt uncomfortable as I am superstitious and that can mean a death in the family. I felt it's presence.
Then I took cat to the vet to reveal he needed to be put down.
I did so today.
I buried my boy in the back yard & planted a seedling which has recently appeared in a concrete crack, a seedling from the tree he loved to climb.
Well I was sitting at my computer just before & I felt a tickle on my arm.
I went to stratch it to then discover a perfectly placed praying mantis resting on my arm looking at me, very still.
I took it outside & freed it in the area I buried that cat.
Went to look before & here is the praying mantis sitting on top of the seedling I planted.
I couldn't help but be touched by this & decided to look up the spiritual meaning of the praying mantis.
What did I find?
It symbolises stillness, calm & peace.
Somehow it made me feel a little better.

What a nice story--I remember a few days after my mom's funeral, sitting in traffic, and the car in front of me had a tag that read "PEARL"--my mom's name. I felt like that was a sign that everything was OK.
It will probably be a comfort to your kids, too.

rosiepetal..I am so very sorry. I read a book a few years ago called "In Lieu of Flowers". It spoke about listening for messages from nature after a loved one passes…I think your loving cat wants you to know he is ok. Sending hugs.
Rosie, I feel for you. Your kitty is up in heaven purring down on you. After mine passed, I would swear that I could feel the bed move as if he jumped up on it in the middle of night like he used to do. I'm sure it was nothing but I like believing otherwise... cuz why not? It makes us feel good.
