I broke up with my alcoholic gf yesterday. She has called today numerous times and texts me things like what am I hiding? I answered earlier but haven't since then. Why does she keep trying to hurt me? I miss her but I want to work through the pain so I can grow. I'm an alcoholic who is sober and I had to leave because of her drinking.

I honestly don't think she is trying to hurt you. I'm both a recovering addict and also someone who has/had loved ones who are still using/drinking.

I think she is totally thinking about HER and has no idea of what you are dealing with. My DOC was crack, and I left my XABF because he wanted to use, I chose recovery. He never got it, but I did and had to step back.

It's not easy when you know what she is going through, but you have moved on to do better for you.

My best advice, built on my own ES&H is let her go. You have to do what is best for you, you've chosen recovery, and she hasn't.

It's hard, no doubt, but now is the time to focus on what you need to be the best person you can be.

Congratulations on your sober time, Achelus! I think it shows good recovery that you decided to back away from a relationship that was jeopardizing your health.

I am sorry for the pain, and I suppose if you are prepared to do so, you could block her phone number so that you would have a peaceful evening.
