I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear Father, Radiant. You have my deepest sympathies.
Perhaps you can suggest to them that you will send your husband to them, and let them teach him everything he should have been taught as a boy about drugs and alcohol and sit him down to 3 squares a day. These are parenting issues, not spousal issues.
Unfortunately, I have not come across an adult who likes it when another adult plays "here comes the choo-choo" while bringing the spoon full of food toward their mouth. And as Ann says, if love could cure addiction, none of us would be here.
I hope you won't stress too much about the fact that you don't have all the answers right now. Please take good care of yourself!
