So, I guess I always think the worst of X. He really has not earned my trust, but I suppose I could give the benefit of the doubt. I'm still not convinced that he didn't steal it. It's not a device that spills ink. If he bought other items and then went through the metal detectors and set them off, the clerks could just look and say, "Oh, you just paid. You're fine." I see that all the time and it's a tactic I've used before. Buy a few things and steal something more expensive.

Thank you ALL for your responses. They have really helped me to get ideas. I will probably either say nothing or ask for a receipt and say, "I'm not dressing DS in this unless I see a receipt."
