Your post just pulls at my heart strings. There is nothing more sad than having to watch your loved one get weaker, sicker and unable to turn his life around. I'm very sad for you and I know what it feels like. I lost my brother February 2013. His family knew the doctor had given him a limited amount of time - he was in complete denial. Still he lasted another 10 years.
Some of the advice you've been given sounds good. Again I'm really sorry you have to go through this.
