I was lucky to have a sponsor who suggested I write letters to the hurtful alcoholic which I would never send. Sitting down with a pad and pen, letting 'er rip helped diffuse the fear and anger, leaving me feeling a lot better. And surprising things came up, It's part of the tool of detaching.
