I told my friend who's getting married what's going on with my BF and that he won't be coming to CA with me. We talked about it and she said, "I'm so sorry to hear he's going through that, but I want to make sure you're taking care of yourself. What are you doing for you right now?"

She gets it. Compassion and love are what she's about. I love her and am so lucky to have her in my life.

She is well-versed when it comes to addiction. Her mom was an alcoholic and died of an OD of pills and alcohol when my friend was 15. She's overcome a lot of obstacles to get where she is today. She's an amazing person and someone who's influenced me greatly in my life.
