A Great Day
A Great Day
I hope this is OK to post as it's a bit off topic but I'm so happy I can't help blabbing...
My partner G is an alcoholic. Years ago, he had a really ugly, acrmonious divorce from his first wife. She took their 3 daughters overseas knowing very well that he couldn't afford to either follow them or pay for them to come and see him. She did not give him their address when they moved and when he eventually found out where they were living and managed to get in contact with them his 3 girls were under the impression that he'd not bothered to contact them because he didn't care and made it very clear that they wanted nothing to do with their father. Lord, it just broke his heart.
He often tells me that he's only got a quarter of his heart left because of it. He hadn't had any contact with them for about 5 years and had come to the conclusion that he would never see them again. Then, all of a sudden, his eldest wrote to him about a year ago to tell him (among many other things), that she was getting married. She had found her uncle's (G's brother) address in the New Zealand yellow pages on the Internet and had written to G via her uncle. For the longest time, he was too frightened to write back...too frightened to contact her in case he was hurt again....but about a week ago he wrote to her, and included his email addy.
Well my friends, she emailed back today..the most sweet and loving little letter. She's so happy and G is just overwhelmed. He cried and cried. I'm so happy for him...just so happy!!
Thanks for listening

Oh I love stories that have happy endings. This just goes to show how forgiving someone (even though he did nothing wrong) can open our lives to sunshine and love again.
What a gift for both of them to connect again.
