We're OK in terms of owning buildings but are actually cash poor. I was fool enough to sign over half of the home and business premises to her, so she legally owns this.

However, my best friend is a criminal barrister, who can call in a favour from a 'divorce' barrister. This means I can make her an offer she can't refuse, or more accurately, she can't fight without losing everything.

So, the money is in property, none of which can be sold by one without the approval of the other. But I have the law on my side, so to speak.
