a sad little vent -

Son + family gave me a ride to the grocery store tonite. On the way home, the 3 older girls are being VERY well-behaved and taking turns asking G'ma a question or telling her something. It comes around to just-turned-four Hannah's turn. Her question: "What will we do if Papa never ever ever comes back?" (Papa was/is her most favorite person in the universe.)

Her voice was very calm, she wasn't upset, she just wanted to know.
The total silence in the vehicle was deafening - and unheard of. Even 2mo baby sister was quiet.

I swear could feel Her (my HP) arms around me. And I told the little g-daughter who looks so much like her daddy AND me - I took a deep breath and then very calmly replied: "Then we would all be very very sad."
She nodded her head and that was good enough for her - AND her sisters (6 + 3) - and the subject was changed.

What an evil disease this is.

What a lucky little girl to have you for a grandma. Isnt it funny how the simple and pure answers work best?

Hugs and love

Out of the mouths of babes. Isn't it funny how they can cut directly to the chase and get to the root of the problem without even realizing it.

Thank GOD for grandchildren, they are the blessing we never knew we had until we get them.

(((((((((((((Lots & Lots)))))))))))))) to you and your family.

My daughter Hannah, 6 years old, had the same question for my wife when I was in rehab. I came home.

"Isnt it funny how the simple and pure answers work best?"

It really is! But think of all the 'program slogans' we have:
Easy Does It
Keep It Simple
and I'll prob'ly think of more after i hit "send" -

It's not just in answering g-girl's questions -
I've found that things "work" so much more smoothly when I *do* keep it simple - use as few words as possible, don't go into unnecessary details, "What's the ONE MOST IMPORTANT thing I want to say/do?"
My natural tendency is to complicate things as much as possible. I'm just working to change that.

Thank you Dan! I *LIKE* hearing happy endings - or happy middles - whichever!
I'm SO glad your Hannah has you back!
------------

Thank you all! This Gramma stuff is a blessing beyond words - (happy sigh) - SomeOne up there *must* like me ALOT!
