OT - comedy for sad times

About a month ago, my therapist had me make a list of my needs and whether they were being met in my relationship.

Being codependent, the list took me a solid 5 days to make, as I drew a blank.

But one of them was humor. (and stability, respect, open communication).

As I fell further and further into despair, and was physically hit by my girlfriend, I found myself immersing in little clips. My mind is/was too addled to read a whole book, but I wanted to share some things I watched over and over. I like some of these because it involves using your wits, improvising, and remembering lines - things you just can't do if you're blacking out or always drunk.

Jerry puts things in such concise, funny terms:

Something about the diablo martini made me think of my girlfriend, who always says the devil makes her drink. But I could laugh at it, because the rest is too sad:

And the fact that he sings 'a few of my favorite things' made me think of what you all are telling me. Think of your favorite things. Do your favorite things.

I watched a lot of Frasier. Because Niles has such codependent problems. This moment helped:

blake, what a great idea, thanks so much for sharing.

I like to watch funny animal videos too when I feel in despair.

I hope today is a bit better, hard times.

Your links aren't working for me but I try to watch a funny clip here and there too. Laughter really is the best medicine. Will Ferrell doing Goulet is hilarious! I also love clips from Jimmy Fallon on Hulu. You can never go wrong with a classic Chris Farley movie either. Glad you're finding a way to lift your spirits.

Great thread!
My teenaged daughter and I just discovered Key & Peele's impersonation of Obama and his Anger Translator. It's pretty hilarious - we could hardly watch the State of the Union last week without giggling.

Also, google Flight of the Conchords, those guys from New Zealand, doing their "rap" music. Classic!

sorry stung - i don't know what's up with the links. I tried to fix them.

Love flight of the concords Spiderqueen. There's a movie called Gentleman Broncos with one of them/directed by one of them maybe - quite hilarious

Thanks for the laugh this morning. I resemble this remark:

Being codependent, the list took me a solid 5 days to make, as I drew a blank
