I just want to cry
 

I found out last night that my A brother tried to beat up his adult son. This is a huge shock since he has been an A for 40 years and he has never before hit his kids. Our father was a A who beat us kids, so I guess it stands to reason. But why now after all these years? Is this the normal progression of an A?

I am so sorry. How awful. Alcoholism is definitely a progressive disease. Clearly he has progressed into physical violence. I hope his son is able to stay away from him. I am so sorry.

Thank you Hopeful4... his son is VERY loyal to his dad and I am sure he is beyond hurt (emotionally)... very sad. It is sad also that the sins of the father are visited on the children.
