Addaction UK?

Hello,
Does anybody know how Addaction in the UK works? My ABF is currently in their program. He has been in their program for almost 7 weeks. Apparently they don't want the alcoholic to stop drinking right away because it could be dangerous to their health. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me when they suggest the alcoholic stop? Because so far he's drinking pretty much the same as when he started. He doesn't tell me much, but I want to know that he's not lying to me about it and I'm not just sitting around thinking he's trying when he's not. So far it seems like nothing is changing.
Thanks.

I've never heard of it, but I googled it and came up with several hits. You might try the same.

Yes, I have Googled it. Unfortunately I've been unable to find any answers to my specific question.

Sorry, but can't help you there. He's still drinking though, so nothing changes if nothing changes. Only you can decide if you want to continue waiting for him to change, or if you are ready to change your own circumstances. Good luck to you.

Most UK agencies will encourage people to cut down before quitting. This is to help with costs largely as putting everyone in detox would be very expensive. They will have nurses on staff though and be able to refer clients to a detox agency if they feel it is necessary. These things can take time and they will probably get him to cut down slowly. The problem will be if he is unable to and whether or not if he is honest about his drinking. I would assume that they would ask him to keep a drinks diary... At 7 weeks in you would have expected to cut down some, but it may be in the strength rather than the amount.

I have a friend who is a counselor there, I'll see if I can round her up on FB and get some answers for you.
