Christmas can be a volatile time in the alcoholic home. I share your wishes, that everyone be all right, and find some measure of peace, if only by trusting that answers will eventually come, and that things will eventually change for the better.

Merry Christmas, Amy. We had our regular Al-Anon meeting tonight. Mr. Grits asked me why we would have a meeting on Christmas Eve. I told him that recovery is something you can't skip out on, and the holidays are when most of us need that connection to other people who get it. AA is having a 24-hour open meeting at the church. I'm going into tomorrow with grace and peace in my heart, and I have my group and everyone here at SR to thank for it.

Can't imagine a more volatile and upsetting Christmas than the one two years ago when we hit rock bottom and could not have imagined two years ago that this Christmas we'd have a one year old, a framed '1 year chip', a quiet and happy home and the shared dreams we have for the next two years.

Same plan each day, not every day was a good one but we live the day we're in trying not to repeat the mistakes of yesterday or worry too much about what might happen tomorrow, much easier to put our energy into today and that has a funny way of mitigating those things that can go wrong tomorrow.

Hang in there. Merry Christmas and better 2014 for those who will be glad to see 2013 go.

Thank you NWGRITS! It must have been just a very upset stomach this morning. I don't know why because I did take my meds for my ulcers and had a pumpkin spice muffin I made out of spice cake. My stomach felt much better afterwards. I hate being sick like that! Ugh. Hope your son is feeling better!

Merry Christmas! Can't wait to get home and open presents with hubby! I already know what I got! I'm so using it tonight too! A heated blanket! It will go well this this cold I have because I shiver at night under 3 blankets! Cabelas trip in January! I told him no this week because I wanted to make sure everyone else was bought for. And if I wait, I can spend more money a.k.a. I'm worth it!

Merry Christmas all! It has been such a hard year and yet I feel lucky right now for everything I have. Thank you for the help in finding the grace, hope, and recovery to feel such gratitude.
