Have 2 doe tags and a buck tag left. I already filled a doe tag in Archery Season. I intend on filling all 3 this week. I'll spend all day out until the end of the season next Saturday if that's what it takes. Gotta fill that freezer!

My loving husband tells me I'm staying in bed with back episodes of my favorite TV shows, a German-bierstube-size glass of liquids on constant refill, and lots of blankets & Ibuprofen. Do I know how to party or what?

He has promised to clean the house. I think all in all that's a division of labor I can live with. Even if I'd rather not have the flu.

Thank you Suki & Box!!! Don't tell anybody but I'm actually half enjoying it. I've had an incredibly stressful few weeks and I would never have taken time off if I had been healthy -- but this way I can legitimately stay in bed and do nothing and rest up. It would be more fun if I had chocolate instead of painkillers, but hey, you can't get everything, right?

I hope you have a good, restful weekend Lillamy - no judgements here about your level of enjoyment.... I say when your body tells you to slooooow down, there's no guilt involved.

As far as gift cards - I think it really depends because sometimes they are just invaluable as an option. If I truly don't know someone, or want to introduce them to a new restaurant, or it's my otherwise- impossible-to-buy-for niece who just wants ipod & kindle allowances for her music, books & etc then gift cards are my friends.

Our family found that when we started just exchanging GC's as adults every Christmas it seemed so empty so we did a grab bag the next year with a higher price limit than normal (since you'd be buying for just one person vs. all, except for the kids). The next year we called it "Selfish Grinchmas" & it was like a cross between Chevy Chase/Nat'l Lampoons' Christmas, the Grinch who Stole Christmas & Festivus. We bought, wrapped & brought our own gifts with no rules as to the value, volume, etc. It was hilarious (& telling) to see how much or little each person cared to spend on themselves & in what capacity (need/want).

This weekend:

Digging out the holiday decorations - we're very far behind schedule. My bday is next weekend, I want full-on decorations lighting this place up before then! It's my fave part of having a bday so close to the holiday.

Shopping at Kohl's - I've got a bunch of Kohl's bucks from our Black Friday scores & a great discount to stack with it. I've gotten the kids pretty well done for gifts, I'm thinking it might be all about ME this trip.... I always buy myself bday gifts anyway, lol.

Figuring out our Christmas cookie list & when we can get it all done. I do a lot of baking each year & I need to get a supply list, etc together. Definitely have to figure out what night we'll get all the kids together to bake.... we usually do sugar cookies but I might take a break from them this year & go back to Crème Wafers with flavored buttercream & take advantage of the small army of hands.

I have been trying to spend Sundays cooking 2-3 meals so that I have dinner made through at least Tuesday night. It makes the early part of the workweek so much easier because our days are long with the commute/seasonal traffic.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekends!

Box - I grew up in the PA woods, lol. Eastern PA though... my dad was a rabid hunter (gun & bow, doe & buck) and butcher (my uncle had converted his basement into a seasonal butcher shop) so I can't tell you how much venison, rabbit, fish, turkey, etc. I grew up with. The better story is how when I was 12-13 I ran into our basement to quickly unplug the sump pump that we had to help with rainy spells. The rain stopped that afternoon & it was at least a week before we realized I had inadvertently unplugged the FREEZER...... not the pump. It was stock-full of an entire season's meat & after having to clean it up all by myself I went vegetarian for about 4 years.

OMG... You did NOT do that?!!! And you had to clean it up yourself... you poor thing! I'm sorry but I'm LMAO over here because I know that smell of rotting flesh.

I would love to convert my basement into a butcher space. Have a nice cooler to age and hang meat. I can let ham hocks hang in the garage as long as it stays cold but we're never promised cold weather the whole way through December anymore. I like to let them hang for a week before I debone the meat if the weather is right.

I keep telling Jimmy if I get a nice buck, I'm having it mounted and hanging him in the living room and he says NO WAY will he look at a deer or have a deer look at him while watching tv. lol I told him I'll hang him in the kitchen then. He said that's BULLSH*T! I said Whut?! It's my kitchen and I'll look at him while I cook his tenderloin. He says no to everything so that leaves the basement. I think one would look pretty cool in the bathroom though.

I'm working tomorrow and then playing single mom again Sunday while the hubby works with his reservists all day and then pulls his regular shift all night. Could be worse. He could be deployed right now. I just hate that they work him so hard while everyone else sits on their butts surfing the interwebs. The kids get tired of me after a while, and vice-versa. They need dad time.

Lyssy - your baking is making me feel hungry.
I am going to fill in forms for the Jan cat show and do some grooming of my beloved cats . I am going to finally get round to writing Xmas cards for my friends.
I have washed and deep conditioned my hair and am going to have a face pack later today.
Everyone enjoy what they are doing this weekend. It is SO hard to stay positive when it is dark and cold outside. I might even take a deep breath and put the Xmas tree up - it is a smallish china one - a traditional one with 16 cats wouldn't last long would it! I am already saying rude words when they keep knocking Xmas cards down - I have the early ones up on ribbons but Lysander my baby thinks it is funny to try and knock them all down!!!

You should come bath my Rottweiler Quish! She's like bathing a rare, wild, exotic gorilla! lol Just awful and the bitch loves dirt and hates water! Jimmy thought it would be great to let them run outside the gate. We don't do it often but when the neighbors are all holed up in the house, we let them blow off steam. Well, she went around the pool into the neighbor's yard and rolled in their dog's poop! OMG... I was not wanting to give her a bath that day. We both got one. And as soon as she got out of the tubby, Mummy Ava, my boxer jumped in and expected a tubby. We call them tubbies. lol Boo runs and Mummy is all for it.

Your dogs sound great - even the mucky one! I just hope they give you the amount of joy and happiness my cats give me!
I don't think I would have much luck bathing your girlie though - I don't weigh much. A very good friend of mine used to breed Rottweilers so I do know how large they can get!
She always joked her stud weighed more than me! It would have been fun to have taken him for a walk though - he would have taken me for a walk, but in fairness, he was mega well behaved.
I know they get bad press, but hers were lovely and she went the extra mile to get them socialised and was very careful who she let have them.
Wegies can get very large for cats - I used to have Maine Coons too but am downt o one my 11 year old Mars.
Take care and enjoy your weekend!

I have been driving my kids to and from multiple end of year activities this last week. My last week at work was full on busy and horrendous - my young charges graduated on Thursday night and preparing for that is exhausting. Us teachers are SOOO overpaid and underworked I dare anyone who says that to give my job a go.

Last night kids had a special Karate Shinai seminar (more $$$, but they got a Shinai to take home). Eldest boy is away water skiing and tubing with his friend who is a girl "There is a DIFFERENCE Mom!" - drove him to the pick up point at stupid o'clock. He is with the girl's parents and a few other kids from their friend group. The Mom of the friend who is a girl just texted me a pic of the kids on the water today, awww they grow up so fast. They've been friends since they were 5 years old and now they are 16, I'm happy he is with lovely people he has known since he was a little, little boy.

Other kids with their father XAH tonight. Then another Karate bbq/picnic tomorrow. I refuse to bbq again - last year there was me bbq-ing for me and my kids with all the normie, involved-in-their-kids'- lives dads, so very awkward. I'm preparing a picnic for us instead.

I'm watching Walking Dead and some trashy reality TV - Real Housewives of Beverly Hills I LOVE Lisa and Brandi - and eating Mocha ice cream with chocolate shards.

They are a hoot! So smart and little agitators! Ma likes to steal Boo's bone and Boo will stalk her for it. They offer great times. We laugh at them so much. We even get a lil rambunctious. Jimmy will yell at us to cool it and we just stare at him and he'll start laughing. Boo gives me a run for my money at bath time. She is pretty hefty for a female German Rot. They vet said she wouldn't get big but I know she tips the scales at the least 120lbs. I'm going to slim her and Ma down for the summer. Boo's got a good personality for being a Rottweiler. Good with us and around others when people come to visit but still aggressive with bumps in the night or with strangers walking the streets. She knows if you don't belong and if something doesn't seem right. I trust them with my brother only. That's the only place I leave them. He also has a Rotty. She's pretty rotten too. He has to child proof his house and cabinet doors. Her name is CoCo a.k.a. My Love Child. I told him I was going to buy her a feather pillow for Christmas and he said, *I will effing kill you!*

I don't want to make all of you jealous that are snowed and iced in but my house is decorated and I am hosting a charity event tonight at my house on the water in Florida. We will be watching the Christmas Boat parade go by while toasting in the season with the temp in the low 80's.

And best of all? I can sip wine and not worry my XA is going to get falling down drunk and fall in the bay or some other ridiculous catastrophe.

Wishing you all warmth and good cheer by a toasty fire...

Rain is predicted and I am praying for it. I have been running ragged for a month now and would love nothing mOre than to spend a day in bed to the sound of rain, with a. Good movie and a grilled cheese sandwich. Getting ready to go on vacation so it's time to get vacation clothes out and get those packed too. Vacation however is when my dry drunk ahis most likely to drink. I cant say relapse because hes not in a program that i know of, but he is also not drinking,
Tourists, we really tend to go into moron mode when in someplace warm and there is a nice umbrella drink in arms reach. Me, I don't care, AH...I just have to let go let go let go.

Work, kids, cleaning... Thinking of combining the last two? Found some grimy little handprints while shampooing carpets last night on the 2nd floor (their domain) I have a touch of ocd so it killed me not to immediately wipe it up but I've been working really hard the last few months on sharing my load and teaching the kids to be responsible aka chores . Hubby is working a double then second tomorrow so I think I may just sleep in an extra hour, gona try to anyway, my youngest 2 want to NEVER sleep in unless it's a school day!

Hope everyone's ok with this weather, I'm from the north so it doesn't bother me but everyone here in KY is freaking out, thinkin they are still coping with leftover emotions from the ice storm a few yrs ago? Not a fan of the cold but the untouched snow is beautiful!
