I am spinning right now and starting to calm down, but I feel ANGRY.

My father who i haven't seen in a year or heard from in many months just called to wish me a happy thanksgiving. the first minute of two was his health update and then he started interrogating me and tells me that i am living my life wrong and that i am not a good person. he doesn't think my career is good enough or that i am ambitious enough. he thinks i am bad for living with my bf (of several years who is a college professor and has his own side business and is NOT an A) and that i can do better (someone from a more prestigious family who makes more money).

WTF?

I am calming down but who does he think he is???? THIS is why i am not at his house for thanksgiving and neither is my sister.

I'm sorry, Missfixit, that really sucks. Next time he calls don't answer the phone. You don't need to be treated like that by anyone, especially your father. Enjoy your day with other friends and family. Don't take that nonsense to heart.

Well, look at it this way: it sucks that your father is that way. But you can be thankful that you are healthy enough to not take his bullsh*t to heart, and healthy enough to choose to spend Thanksgiving with people who aren't hateful and mean.

Your father and my mother are peas in a pod. But there will be no calls from Mommy Dearest since I went No Contact over a year ago. I spend the day with my little family and friends, and it's wonderful.
