LOL I must be codependent because...

...I saw a quiz entitled "Are you a Narcissist" and I filled it out as if it were AH filling it out! How codependent is that?

I knew I was engaging in codependent activity by wasting 10 minutes on the quiz, but I did it anyway. Honestly, I didn't even have to fill it out.

Any other codependents want to take the "Are you a Narcissist" test for your narcissistic spouse?

This post made me chuckle because guess what I did a few years ago?
Mind you, he started it by telling me I had a personality disorder.

I took this test (and others for different types of disorder) for both of us.

You'll never guess which one of us actually came out as having personality issues :33:

This is a riot. Must confess I did the same thing!

The more time that goes by, though, the more I can see my past behavior through a clearer lens.

I did it too...alcoholism can lead to behavior which resembles it...but I don't think we are qualified to make such decisions, especially about somebody so close to us. It's presumptuous, assuming a level of competence to diagnose someone so close to us...and us being non-professionals in the psychology dept... I did it too...!

It takes the focus off the things we can control, once again, we need to stop it when we start going down that path...it has no purpose, and put the focus back on ourselves and what we need to do, our goals, our unfinished business. I realize now it was sick, mentally unwell, to do that test for someone else. I had no business taking someone else's inventory.

Hahaha another one here who has done that in the past :D

I did it once too...my counselor asked me if I thought RAH was a narcissist and I didn't have a truly good definition so I did a little on-line research. I'm not, don't think RAH is...but my boss is! :lmao

I've done this one and the one where it assesses your alcohol abuse and if it's a problem. Guilty as charged. FYI: that was well over 2 years ago just when things were starting to fall apart around here!

haha - yep, I've taken a depression test for him, an alcoholism test for him, and a social anxiety test for him. Yeah....sick, sick, sick. lol

Tentindependent 10-11-2013 09:11 AM

I did an alcoholism test for him too, though it was on the advice of a doctor I worked with at the time.

What's scary, looking back, is that these felt like normal things to do.

Maybe this should be in the 'Normies' thread too.

I took the test, but I honestly don't really know how my ex sees himself or how he would answer these questions. I think his denial and dishonesty is so thick that he wouldn't answer these questions based on his actions the way that I did. Funny thing, I took it as of I was him and scored 30. I felt bad and changed some answers and scored a 28. :D I'm sick, I know.

LightInside 10-11-2013 12:08 PM

I took the test as my own imperfect self and got an 8. I scored a 3 in superiority! That's pretty high and it probably goes hand in hand with my codependency.

I like the feedback in doing this for my ex-AW - it is validating and lets me know that I am NOT crazy... at least not in the ways she's accused me of being! thanks for posting it.

SoloMio 10-11-2013 01:45 PM

Well, I did take it for myself and scored a 5, with my highest score (3) for self-sufficiency.

lillamy 10-12-2013 06:04 AM

Haha, yup, I've done that too.
And I scored a 5 on that. I think Codies will
Score on the extreme low side...
