Choosing not to care...

Today my AH left here at 10:00am with an old army buddy to go to a football game. He said he prefered to go with someone that like sports, I get that I hate sports. His buddy is a drinker too... So, that might have something to do with it. AH hasn't had a drink in 40 days, so we'll see..

But, today, I just don't care. I cooked an amazing stuffed pasta dish, pre-made some snacks for the week, spent some quality time with my daughter, we did her hair and nails, I read, I went shopping... And didn't give my husband another thought. If he gets drunk, so be it... I'm having fun without him.

I actually wrote that post at 4:00pm, but somehow it didn't submit ...

He came home very shortly thereafter, both of them sober, which is great... But I still didn't care. He and his buddy are taking over the great room with more football and burgers, and I'm letting him have some space. I am happy in my office/den with my music and my iPad.

I'm not sure if that is detachment or just giving him space...

Just sounds like you're doing your thing, he's doing his and you're both content. Sounds nice and conventional.

Really feel like eating pasta now!

I love that! It's such a gift to reach that place where another person's actions don't define your own happiness. It sounds like you had a perfect day. Way to go. :)

I think its both. You gave him space to do whatever he was going to do, and you recognized that his decisions were his own to make. Glad you had a great day.
