The Neuroscience of Breaking Up: Why it's so painful

On another thread a poster asked for a source for this information. This article is so good I thought that it deserved its own thread. Googling this type of topic brings up a lot of great stuff.

The Knowledge that my feelings and intense pain were not "love" but chemically induced help me work on controlling my obsession and addiction to the addict.

Yes! I had heard about this on NPR! So glad you posted it! Being in contact with the ex is like going to the bar if you're trying to quit drinking. Too bad I share a child with mine. I did get to go 12 days recently. It was very good for me.

people may experience cravings for their ex-partner similarly to the way addicts crave a drug they are withdrawing from.
Good reason to go NC.

Really interesting article! Thank you!

I understand the feelings, it makes perfect sense now. It's an amazing feeling to overcome that addiction.
