an opportune phone call
Coincidence? I think not.
A woman I met in alanon a few weeks ago just called and left me a message about connecting and talking. She's been in recovery for ages and her husband passed away from alcoholism last year. I've been going to alanon meetings but have yet to really strike up conversations and/or friendships with anyone. She had asked for my phone number and given me hers but I didn't expect to hear from her.
I need this right now. It would be good to get perspective from someone who's dealt with the pain of addiction (others and her own) and overcome it. I also know she's taking care of her ill mother and life's been hectic for her lately, so I'm sure I can help by lending a listening ear to her too.
It seems that things do sometimes happen for a reason.
