His blood work...

ASTBXH went to doc for a physical.

His blood work was normal for all the things.

Then 2 more tests were ordered:

1. Elevated Liver enzymes beget a hepatitis test
2. Liver ultrasound

He hadn't been drinking for a week before these tests.

I don't know what this means but I know it can't be good.

Anyone have experience? :tyou

His blood tests weren't normal if his liver enzymes were elevated. Does his Dr know the truth about his drinking? They are likely doing a hepatitis screen to rule out other things that could be damaging his liver.

It means, basically, that his liver is showing damage. Alcohol abuse leads to liver cirrhosis....and eventual failure if things don't change.

Keep in mind that the liver is amazingly resilient and his enzymes could very well return to normal with continued sobriety.

Um. His bloodwork was normal for everything except this. Big circle around NORMAL at the top...Except for elevated liver enzymes.

He has an ultrasound Friday and blood work thursday. Time will tell.
