Court-ordered alcoholism specialist to analyze AH

Hi all

Lots of continuing drama here. Trying to learn how to make it light and fun! I tell you, one day at a time is the only way to go!

So the judge over here ordered stbxah to submit to regular blood tests. Whose results must then be analyzed by an alcoholism specialist. Ah and I try to agree on said specialist, who then is charged to prepare a medical certificate indicatingany dependence on alcohol.

Do any of you have experience or advice to lend to this? I wanted to ask for a hair test, but my lawyer here didn't think that would fly with the judge.

Ah is a binge drinker. He can probably abstain long enough to pass these tests, right? Then celebrate when he passes?

I've got an opportunity here. Get him to do an intake at rehab. Followed by a few sessions with someone who can see through the b**l c**p.

In the meantime, he's been distinguished guest speaker at Ivy schools and traveling around the world. And we are excited when there's money to buy bread and cat litter.

Hilarious!

Well, it looks like the Judge is on to the fact that he may have a drinking problem - - that's good news.

I'd try looking at the really high end top notch alcohol rehab centers - maybe the Betty Ford? I don't know many of the names. You could call one of their physicians who specializes in alcohol and see what they would recommend for a test that might reveal the alcoholism despite the binges. And they might be able to do the test or recommend someone.

If you submitted a name like the Betty Ford clinic that even Europeans would recognize, the Judge might follow their recommendations and reasoning. Or find out the European counterpart that they would recognize.

As for getting your husband to agree, if he won't agree with 3 or 4 options from this level of specialist, you could then submit that to the Judge, point out that AH is trying to circumvent the definitive test, and see if the Judge will choose.

Just a thought - -

I get great advice here. Thank you ShootingStar

Called Betty Ford. Love that they are used to high functioning As.

They are, however, on the other side of the country and raatthherr pricey. But Betty is sending recommendations for similarly thorough centers in other parts of the US.

AH is warning me that these tests could hurt his career. Poor fellow, eh? And that since it's court-ordered, insurance won't apply.

So he is already trying to weasel his way out of this. How surprising.

F**king coward.

When I describe my situation to these clinics, I just feel bored and sick of it all. They want compassion from me, and I ain't got none. Unlike many of you, I hate AH. I see him as pure Hyde with the pretense of being Jekyll. But unlike everyone else, I am not fooled.

Betty Ford said that he is probably a pretty nice guy. I didn't agree or disagree. But no, he isn't nice. He is detestable.

Okay, now back to doing something fun and light-hearted!

Thanks folks!

standard Liver Function Tests ( LFTs) are going to show elevations in the numbers if he is a regular heavy drinker.

they don't come down to normal levels if you abstain for 3-4-5 days, it can take more than a month. check ggt ggtp normal levels ( i think they are 100 or 120)...mine were over 400 when i was drinking.

liver enyzme tests don't lie, it's not something that can be explained away easily....unless of course he has liver or pancreatic severe problems.

He "warned" you that these tests could hurt his career? Oh well....part of the consequence for the behavior. Insurance won't pay? Consequence.

When the A makes those kind of comments it's good to be in detachment. Respond "hmm" and be done.

More and more, I feel very 'hmmm'ish about things that he does. It's like, 'oh, you're out to destroy me...again?! Yawnnn. Now let me see, what was I thinking about before you interrupted? Oh right, the event on Friday.

I don't know how things changed, but the drama half bores me. Life is so much more fun without him occupying my thoughts!

So should I call that guy back and make plans for Sunday? Am I ready for my race? Will I get on the podium again? Where shall I bike with the kids next?

I'm not nuts when I'm not thinking about him. And when I'm busy with my own life, he shrivels and shrinks.

I don't care what his consequences are.

He may disagree with these thorough evaluation programs that I propose to him. He probably will. Then the judge can wonder, 'is it because of the distance? The expense? Or is he afraid of getting found out?'

Stbxah's are a lot of work.
