RA: What was your withdrawal symptoms?

Hi All. Just wondering what was your withdrawal symptoms, or is it as individual as the disease itself?

With Alcohol?
Well this is a list of physical symptoms I experienced before seeing my Dr who took care of all of them.
Vomiting
Sweating - while feeling extremely cold or extremely hot.
Shaking
Extreme high blood Pressure
Hallucinations
Seizures
Lack of sleep
Zero Appetite.
Stomach pains
Kidney Pains
Nightmares - when able to sleep.
Loss of ability to materialize any thoughts.

Just to name a few. There are much more symptoms.

Sounds like fun, no? I'm a 30y old 6 foot, 208 LB athletic build Male and was drinking 750ML per day of vodka or rum.
If you tell your Dr you are going to quit cold turkey, he/she should know what to put you on to lower/eliminate some of these symptoms.

Good luck!!!
Team Sober.

It's pretty individual. I had mild tremors, nausea, sweating mainly. Mental distraction, inability to concentrate. Also sleep disturbances and extreme tiredness during the day.

As miserable as heroin withdrawal can be, alcohol withdrawal is far more dangerous. An alcoholic who is withdrawing can die as a result of seizures or heart failure. That almost never happens with other drugs. And there is no way of predicting who will have extremely serious withdrawals--which is why medically supervised detox is always recommended.

Hello TheGrinch :)

May I ask if you are sure you want that question in this forum? You will get many more answers in the forums for alkies/addicts. And you will also get peeps wanting to know _why_ you are interested.

If you like, I can move your question over to the alkie forum, just let me know.

I went cold turkey after a three weeks binge. I had sweating, nausea and I felt like jumping out of my skin (tingling).
I also had night sweats but I am not sure if it was the detox, I am going through peri menopause. It lasted for 3 days after day 5, I was back 100 percent except that for my first 3 months I was always extremely tired and slept a LOT.
