At least you can leave the pool table in the basement.

They don't. They are worse than pool tables to get rid of. And as soon as someone makes an offer, there's the risk they will decide he's too much trouble and you will still be stuck with a large, useless piece of junk.

My AA friend and his nephew have been here all day pulling up carpet where we are putting the tile. LOL, you know it's time to replace the carpet when the beat-up plywood underneath looks like an improvement over the carpet that was just pulled up.
They are also finishing up the ceiling in the basement (still needs to be taped and painted--plus I bought new light fixtures for down there), and finishing the prep for the new flooring in basement. I put the cats out on the screened-in deck so they don't get in the way or get too stressed out. Once the basement is done, I can relocate them to that area.
Yesterday we went to Lowes and picked up the vinyl tile for the basement and paid for the carpet so they can order it. The carpet should get here right around the time they are done with the ceramic tile upstairs (picking that up next Saturday).

Had another session with my organizer today. We got the majority of the crap in my office under control. We didn't do any filing of paper today or anything, but there was stuff strewn in piles all over the floor that I didn't know what to do with. The goal for today was to get everything in more-or-less logical bins so when the guys lay the carpet they can move stuff around. My next session with her is August 10, so by then the new carpet will be down and we can move about freely.
My new tile arrived today and, thankfully, I still love it. The floor is almost completely prepped for the tile, both upstairs and down in the basement (which will have vinyl tile). Since I am setting up an exercise area in the basement, and I would like to use videos, I bought a TV on sale, along with a blu-ray player for the basement, and made arrangements to have the cable guys come and run cable down there. Eventually I will probably put a cheap sofa down there--one that the cats won't destroy--so if I have company that wants to watch TV after I go to bed they can. The TV in the living room would disturb me because I have a half wall in my bedroom that overlooks the living room.
Oh, and I bought a pet door for the door to the basement. There was a cutout in the door, which I've had closed off with cardboard to keep the cats upstairs (haven't allowed them in the basement since I had my sewer backup disaster). This door has a little sliding lock I can put on it to keep them downstairs if I travel. My neighbors can go in the sliding glass door in the back if they need to take care of them. Hopefully keep them from getting bored and wrecking stuff while I'm away.

i just un-effed the kitchen counter before it got too bad and washed it down.
hope all goes well with you and you are enjoying your new floors.

What Fandy said!!
I love all the UnEffing, Lexie, and am so inspired by you. I didn't know about UFYH before your posts, and I'm totally convinced this isn't OT at all -- the feeling of letting go of junk or dealing with old clutter is so closely tied to my emotional clutter and I have been really working hard on both -- your inspiration has helped me be clear with myself how close the connection really is and do something about it!
I've also been taking on little things here and there, and every little one feels good. I bought for $40 a hand wringer washer (I don't have a washer dryer anymore) to keep up on little loads of things that I can do in between laundromat runs, and solving that problem felt really good!
I've been keeping my countertops and table clean and WOW that makes such a difference emotionally. And every time I see either one, it feels GOOD
And my daughter and I did a major cleanup of her room -- toys, artwork, books, clothes -- it had become unwieldy and now it's all organized with clean surfaces,
And old stuff passed on!
Thank you Lexie. You're marvelous.
