I'm horrified that I started to think of hearing it as 'normal.'
I understand you theuncertainty.
What I put up with, as "normal" is beyond terrible.
My search for love led me to many unavailable men.
It took many years to realize it started with my father.

I am so glad for your son.
He does not hear it anymore.
He sees in you what a woman should and could be.
strong and independent.
Keep up the good work, you are doing it every day.

I hope you can leave. He sounds very much like my AXH.
I feel like I can't leave because he doesn't give me permission.
You don't need his permission. You don't need anybody's permission to choose how you want to live your life.

Your post brought back memories of my marriage. I get nauseous just remembering. You, and the kids, will be so much better off not living in an abusive situation.
